clinical experiences for healthcare education ANYTIME. ANYWHERE.

creating and delivering VIRTUAL CLINICAL EXPERIENCES
has never been easier

Design A Case was developed in 2002 by UTMB’s Department of Family Medicine in response to a need to deliver consistent educational content for distance learning to the third-year clerkship students. Design A Case (often referred to as DAC) became an online suite of software which allows cases to be developed, administered and delivered to students on any health related topic and is accessible anywhere, anytime.

Since 2002, over 90,000 cases have been completed by students from over 13 schools across the United States in over 70 different courses. Cases have been developed at all learner levels, from first-year medical students to faculty CME. As online educational tools become increasingly mainstream, DAC has recognized this need and created software that is easy to use.

Design A Case is not limited to medical school teaching. Cases have been developed for nursing, physicians assistant studies, chiropractic medicine and more. The power of DAC is in its development flexibility and ease of use for both the author and the student. Faculty, authors, peer reviewers and coordinators across any discipline and from any university can collaborate to educate tomorrow’s health professionals efficiently and effectively in today’s virtual learning environment.

Design A Case is designed to supplement traditional teaching and patient care activities by assisting faculty in facilitating, documenting, and tracking a consistent and measurable education for all students, regardless of training site. And best of all, DAC is available anytime, anywhere there is an internet connection.
